MUSIPEDIA OF METAL 'Back On The Lash makes the sleaze of Poison and those pretty boyz of the 1980s and 1990s look like a school trip from St Joseph's. If dirty, swung from the hip sleaze is your thing then you’ll be over this like the fat bird in the cake shop. Big, brash and in your face, Warrior Soul led by the infamous Kory Clarke return with Back On The Lash, nine tracks and just over half an hour of stomping sleaze ridden rock n’ roll. The band, formed by Clarke way back when has been around for many years, earning a reputation for the unpredictable and the chaotic. Clarke, from the mean streets of Detroit, is a loose cannon, a poet, political activist and artist whose reputation is much bigger than his standing.'

SENTINEL DAILY     'The title track details our hero’s predilection for ‘the booze’ in bibulous style, Clarke’s Keith Morris/Lemmy vocal juxtapositions are absolutely perfect, and the song does indeed make the listener wonder if there’s anything worth drinking in the fridge. Bash crash, let’s get smashed indeed!'

VIVE LE ROCK MAG     'Warrior Soul is a Rock anomaly that continually crashes its skull through the genre pigeon holes like a ravenous Punk fox searching for prey. Tearing into stereotypes, feasting on political injustice and making a shambolic, albeit aurally artistic racket. Original member and bandleader Kory Clarke always had a vocal style designed for rebellion. A smoky, street sleeping, well matured filter-less rasp that thirty years on from Warrior Soul’s first release can still make the ears weep and nose bleed. His bands latest offering is the strangely titled ’Back On The Lash’ which is British slang for going out on the piss, getting hammered or just plain drunk. Opening track ’American Idol’ serves as a chaser to the mindset of Clarke and the dark overtures of this impressive realise. It’s middle America street poetry set against the backdrop of two electric guitars and Clarke’s distinctive uncut weather-beaten voice which antagonistically prods you in the chest while blowing thick smoke into your inquisitive eyes. The anthemic ‘I Get Fucked Up’ is an anti-government, bankers, oil companies and general worldwide corporate corruption ditty.

DANGER DOG    If Classic Rock magazine and Lars Ulrich are to be believed, Warrior Soul founder and vocalist Kory Clarke is a legendary front man and a bona fide, if not underrated, rock star of our generation. Clarke and his band rose to fame in the early Nineties with a series of successful albums that featured their punk-infused hard rock and Clarke's party hard, fuck the world, anarchist attitude and lyrics. In other words, the guy was, and still is, a rock star, a rebellious one as they should be.  (view article)

MAXIMUM VOLUME MUSIC    Kory Clarke has been as rock n roll as it gets.  Lars Ulrich once said of him "Kory Clarke should be considered [as], and is, one of the great Rock Stars of all time along with Bon Scott, Axl Rose and Michael Monroe." And maybe, he's right. Certainly, there is the feeling of absolute and complete hedonism about this. (view article)

XSROCK.COM    It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Kory Clarke and his version of apocalyptic rock with Warrior Soul. And with his latest outing “Back On The Lash”, I am even more convinced than ever that Clarke is one of the greatest living rock stars around. A modern day poet with ruminations about the state of the world, Clarke and Warrior Soul bring you down into the gutter while showing you how to have a good time. Not unlike a rock n’ roll Dante that shows the layers of hell that stand before us, all set to a rock n’ roll soundtrack that would make AC/DC, The Sex Pistols and Motorhead proud.  Forget all of the musical genres, sub genres and so forth. Warrior Soul isn’t just metal. It isn’t just punk either. It’s what rock n’ roll should be. (view article)

LONDON METAL MONTHLY   It’s a damp London night in Kings Cross; where a handful of fellow members of the press, industry people, and a collective of fans have assembled for a very special showcase gig. This event celebrates the release of Warrior Soul‘s  new album ‘Back On The Lash’, the band’s first studio album since 2012’s highly praised ‘Stiff Middle Finger’ – which is no easy feat to beat.   ( view article)

BLABBERMOUTH.NET  WARRIOR SOUL is back with profane sermons delivered at high velocity and maximum volume and this is what the new album is all about! "Back On The Lash" is a powerful statement of intent from Kory and WARRIOR SOUL. Clarke is one of the last true rock 'n' roll frontmen and since the classic "Last Decade Dead Century" in 1990, he has continued to swim against the tide of mediocrity and safe rebellion. His last solo album, "Payback's A Bitch", received the full score in Rolling Stone magazine upon release. This firebrand of political invective and rock 'n' roll is back on the lash with a new album for 2017 and you won't hear a more powerful or authentic album this year. It is everything you would expect — aggressive, vile and it wants to make you go to the bar and tell the planet to fuck off.

TEAMROCK.COM     While nobody can really blame Warrior Soul main man, Kory Clarke for dropping out of the fight every few years to mop up the blood and give his embattled liver a brief respite from further punishment, now is probably the most crucial moment this band have ever had. He always warned about a fascist, warmongering USA, and now he’s got one. If rock’n’roll’s angriest man was ever gonna rally the troops and bring truth to power, the time is now. So this better be some album. And it is. (view article)
